FÁTIMA
Fatima is a small town located in central Portugal, about 130 kilometers north of Lisbon. It is one of the most important Catholic pilgrimage sites in the world and is known for the apparitions of the Virgin Mary that occurred in 1917.
The town of Fatima is centered around the Basilica of Our Lady of Fatima, which is a stunning modern church that was built in the mid-20th century. The basilica is home to the Chapel of Apparitions, which is a small chapel that marks the spot where the Virgin Mary appeared to three shepherd children in 1917. Visitors to the chapel can see the statue of Our Lady of Fatima and leave their prayers and petitions.
Another popular attraction in Fatima is the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Fatima, which is a vast complex of religious buildings, including several chapels, a museum, and a beautiful park. The sanctuary is home to the Way of the Cross, which is a series of statues and shrines that depict the Passion of Christ.
